It is hard to believe that 4 years have gone without Soundarya on silver screen. It appears as if she is still amidst us while watching her films. Soundarya who began her career a bit reluctantly in 1992 with a Kannada film, soon went on to become a much loved actress.

She has acted in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu films. It was however in Tollywood that she came truly into her own. Many people felt that Soundarya was a Telugu girl. Soundarya was a talented actress and was also known for her commitment to her profession and her discipline.

Soundarya acted with some of the top stars like Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Balakrishna, Venkatesh, Rajnikanth, Kamal Haasan etc. Kondaveeti Simham, Sri Manjunatha, Pavithra Bandham, Ammoru were some of the films that showcased her versatility and acting prowess.

Soundarya was just 32 when she died in a plane crash while coming to AP from Bangalore to campaign for the BJP. Her brother was also killed in the plane crash. Soundarya was married for about six months when fate snatched her life away from us.

To mark her fourth death anniversary, some cultural organizations in Bangalore are planning special functions today to pay tributes to her. The TV channels are also airing her films as a mark of tribute to this late actress.

Telecom service provider Idea Cellular Wednesday launched a range of 3G smartphones starting from Rs.5,850 to promote its 3G services in the country.
The Idea 3G smartphones come in two variants of 3.5 inch — Blade, and 2.8 inch — ID 280 with full touch capacitive screens. The smartphones are based on 2.2 Android Operating System with 3.2 mega pixel camera. Other features include GPS navigator software, FM radio, and MP3 player, WiFi, Bluetooth, social media apps like Facebook, Twitter, Orkut, browser, Operamini, and pre-loaded Google and Youtube, besides range of other high-end features and Idea TV, which would be available for free for 3 months.

As an introductory offer Idea is offering data services worth Rs 3,500 with a Rs 259 pack, along with the new 3G smartphones. Hence ID 280, the smartphone which is originally priced at Rs 5,850, will be available to Idea 3G users for just Rs 2,609, and Blade, which is originally priced at Rs 7,992 will be available to for Idea 3G users for Rs 4,751. “The handset device can operate as a mobile phone, a mini computer and also act as a Wi-Fi router,”. At present the company is looking at a few thousand handsets, which will be available in stores by the end of the week. The officials declined to give the exact number they are sourcing from Huawei and ZTE.

GATE 2012 Admit Card (Hall Ticket) Download

Update: GATE committee postponed downloading of GATE Admit cards to 05-01-2012 after 5 PM. So students please wait up to January 5 to download your Admit Card (Hall Ticket).

Students who are going to attend GATE 2012 exam are informed that from this year onwards admit cards or hall tickets are not sent to you via post. You have to download from the official GATE website. Here is the procedure for downloading your hall ticket.
GATE 2012 Admit card can only be downloaded from the zonal GATE websites from 2nd January 2012. Remember that sending Admit cards by post has been discontinued. You have to bring the admit card at the test center along with at least one original (not photocopied / scanned copy) and valid photo identification.
